Our research locations are equipped with a variety of aids to make our residents "get the job done".  Our own library includes microfilm, microfiche, maps, CDs, DVDs, books, computers, yes, even the older ones with great genealogy apps on them!  We also utilize websites, and original records with a white glove approach, accessing prior researcher's work.  We go to tribal headquarters and their research facilities, including libraries, historical societies, genealogy centers, county, state, territorial, and federal records, and more. We believe that our abilities in persistance help to enhance the overall quality of research for our clients and historical researchers alike.

Begin by gathering all known family records and oral histories. Local libraries and historical societies often hold documents that can serve as the foundation for further exploration.

Yes, we have a full library of books, Newsletters, Microfilm, Microfiche, Computer CDs, DVDs, an extensive collection, most of them have some Native American Links.

More training in our free courses, and more details to come but to begin with you should explore local government archives, heritage centers, and tribal enrollment offices. These sources frequently offer verified documentation that reflects the region’s unique history.

Recognizing regional practices and cultural nuances aids not only in interpreting records, but in finding them. Researching local historical is a necessity to give color and supports accurate lineage tracing.

Challenges include incomplete documentation, variations in name spellings, name changes, ancestors who did not want records and gaps in records. Patience and consulting experts can help overcome these obstacles.

1 to 1.  We give personalized individual service to each client.

Cross-referencing your records with established tribal criteria and verify findings against multiple sources. Engaging local historians familiar with regional genealogy often provides clearer guidance.  Each individual tribe has their own "qualification for enrollment" rules.  Recognize you may never become "recognized" but you may prove your heritage to the most important person ... yourself.

It's clear that preserving historical records of Native American genealogy and/or your own family is not only an academic exercise but a vital commitment to honor our ancestral heritage. Reflecting on the rich tapestry of familial histories and cultural traditions, Recognize that each documented story adds to the collective memory of communities and local regions.

Gather oral histories, family records, and community testimonies.  Get them somewhere "acid free" for protection and safe.  Use cotton gloves when you handle original documents.  Your "safe house" might be the LDS Family History Center, or scanning them for safety and getting them online for your own descendants.  My "safe house" might be a "literal" bomb proof shelter.  It depends upon your own level of "protection" you feel you need.

Engage Locally: means to utilize heritage centers, local archives, and community groups dedicated to indigenous and family history.

Actionable Research:  Be sure to create detailed family trees, record and compare oral narratives with documented records, and remain diligent in updating historical information.

Consider these steps as a blueprint for safeguarding history. Whether you are studying local county records or consulting expert genealogists in your area, making informed decisions and consistent updates is critical. We hope our teachings and tidbits serves as a guide for your research journey, encouraging you to preserve the legacy that shapes current and future generations.
